Is Sazgar expanding to the Philippines? (DF-261104-SAZEW)
Every number and claim shown in the video, where it came from, the exact place inside that source, and how much weight it carries. If you doubt a figure, check it here.
Official = Sazgar’s own letters to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and PSX’s own data files. Reputable news = well-known outlets in Pakistan and the Philippines that reported the plant opening.
The news: a plant in Laguna
Shown at 0:18 (the plant in Laguna) and 0:27 (“Linked to Sazgar” map).
At the end of October 2026, news in Pakistan and the Philippines reported a three-wheeler plant opening in Laguna province, linked to Sazgar Engineering Works (PSX: SAZEW).
| On screen | Figure | Where it is written | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the plant is | Biñan City, Laguna, Philippines | Daily Tribune (PH); APP | Reputable news |
| Who opened it | President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. | Daily Tribune (PH); APP | Reputable news |
| When | 29 Oct 2026 | Daily Tribune (PH), 29 Oct 2026 | Reputable news |
| Reports: “Sazgar set up a plant” | — | Business Recorder; ProPakistani; Dawn | Reputable news |
Map: Natural Earth (public domain), country and province borders. Pakistan is drawn with Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan; Indian-administered Jammu & Kashmir is shown grey as disputed territory. The plant pin sits at Laguna province: Biñan City’s exact position is not in our saved sources.
Whose plant? Sazgar’s clarification
Shown at 0:43 (“Whose plant?”) and 0:38 (the PSX letter).
On 2 November 2026 Sazgar sent a clarification to PSX about the news. PSX posted it on 3 November.
| On screen | What the letter says | Where | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| The distributor set up the plant | “our distributor has established a manufacturing and assembly plant… with the company’s support and technical assistance” | Sazgar letter to PSX, ref SGL/26-11/9335, paragraphs 2–4 | Official |
| No equity investment | “The Company has not made any equity investment in the said plant.” | Sazgar letter to PSX, paragraphs 2–4 | Official |
In short: the plant belongs to Sazgar’s distributor in the Philippines. Sazgar gives support and technical help, but did not put money into the plant as equity.
Sazgar’s gain: CKD kits
Shown at 0:55 (“What’s in it for Sazgar?”), 1:00 (What is CKD?) and 1:40 (kits out, foreign exchange in).
| On screen | Figure / words | Where it is written | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| CKD | Completely Knocked Down: parts made in one country, packed as a kit, assembled in another | ProPakistani, 24 May 2026 (first paragraph); PakWheels (“What does CKD stand for?”) | Reputable news |
| Sazgar sends the CKD kits | “The Company shall export the three wheeler’s CKDs to Philippine” | Sazgar letter to PSX | Official |
| More three-wheeler exports | “will enhance the three-wheelers export volume and expand the company’s presence in the international market” | Sazgar letter to PSX | Official |
| Foreign exchange comes in | “shall contribute in earning of precious foreign exchange for the country” | Sazgar letter to PSX | Official |
How CKD works in the video (a car’s parts, joined like Lego) is a general explanation. Profit for the company is Dr Umair’s words; the letter speaks of export volume and foreign exchange.
The big plan: 12,000 a year, 60% electric
Shown at 1:57.
| On screen | Figure | Where it is written | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plant capacity | about 12,000 three-wheelers a year | Daily Tribune (PH); Dawn; Business Recorder; Manila Times; ProPakistani | Reputable news |
| Electric / engine mix at the start | 60% electric · 40% engine | Daily Tribune (PH); ProPakistani (“initial production mix”) | Reputable news |
The sources describe 12,000 as the plant’s yearly capacity (electric and combustion together) and 60/40 as the initial mix, not a production record.
Back above Rs 2,000?
Shown at 2:34 (the chart since 2016).
The chart line is every SAZEW daily close from 5 January 2016 to 3 November 2026 (2,623 trading days), from PSX’s daily market files, as printed (not adjusted).
| Point on the chart | Date | Close (Rs) | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| First close on the chart | 5 Jan 2016 | 31.75 | Official |
| Highest close | 9 Feb 2026 | 2,455.81 | Official |
| Closed at or above Rs 2,000 | 26 Jan – 13 Jul 2026 | 86 days | Official |
| Last close | 3 Nov 2026 | 1,382.49 | Official |
| Rise needed to get back to Rs 2,000 | — | +44.67% | Worked out |
Each day’s file: https://dps.psx.com.pk/download/mkt_summary/YYYY-MM-DD.Z, for example 3 Nov 2026 and 9 Feb 2026. The last close matches PSX’s SAZEW quote page (3 Nov 2026, 3:49 PM). +44.67% = 2,000 ÷ 1,382.49 − 1, worked out.
Not adjusted. PSX’s files show price-base breaks (the next day’s previous close is lower than the last close) on 18 Oct 2017, 26 Feb 2020, 16 Oct 2020, 18 Oct 2021 and 18 Oct 2023. Their cause is not confirmed in our sources, so the chart is shown as printed. PSX’s files have no rows from 6 to 17 May 2021.
Dr Umair’s view
Marked “Dr Umair’s view · my guess” in the video. Opinion, not taken from a source.
The distributor may first learn from Sazgar (technology transfer), then assemble CKD kits, and later make and sell its own rickshaws. His guess, not in any source.
In the short term the deal should help Sazgar: more exports and foreign exchange (the letter says this), and profit for the company (his words).
His question for viewers: is this news positive enough to take SAZEW back above Rs 2,000? A question, not a forecast.
Not confirmed, so not shown
Seen in coverage or asked about, but not used on screen.
“60 percent Filipino-owned.” Some reports quote this about the plant. Dr Umair does not say it, so it is not shown.
Sazgar’s factory location on the map. PSX lists Sazgar’s address as Raiwind Road, Lahore. The map marks Pakistan as a whole, because the exact position was not in our saved sources.
Sazgar’s own three-wheeler output. Sazgar’s production report for August and September 2026 lists 5,481 three-wheelers made (5,173 sold), with no split between electric and petrol (Sazgar letter to PSX, 6 Oct 2026, table “Three wheelers”). Not used in the video.
